Important Site Checks for Gresbond KE-100 Grout Installation:

Colour Confirmation:

  • Verify the grout colour matches the client's desired selection.
  • Test a small area with actual tile/stone to check for colour absorption by the material, which may cause discolouration.

Movement Joints:

  • Include proper movement and peripheral joints to accommodate movement in the tile/stone.
  • Use a flexible grout or sealant for these movement joints

Grout Limitations:

  • Gresbond KE-100 is a rigid epoxy grout and cannot accommodate movement in the tile/stone.
  • Failure to incorporate movement joints can lead to cracks in the grout, tile or stone.

Sun Protection:

  • When applying KE-100 in open areas like swimming pools, keep the work area covered and protected from sunlight for 7 days.
  • Maintain the cover until the pool is filled with water.

Surface Preparation

  • Before grouting, remove debris from grout joints and lightly sponge the tile surface to remove dust and dirt.
  • Do not use acid cleaners on tiles. If acid cleaners were used, wash the area thoroughly with water before grouting.
  • Substrate temperature must be between 60°F (16°C) and 90°F (32°C).

Mixing

  • Empty Parts A and B of KE-100 Stain Resistance Grout into a clean mixing pail.
  • Mix with a margin trowel or slow speed drill mixer until liquids are completely blended.
  • Add Part C Filler Powder and mix to a uniform consistency.
  • Gradually add the remaining filler powder until you reach a stiff mix suitable for grouting.
  • Immediately pour the entire mixture onto a working area lined with a plastic sheet.

Application

  • Use standard epoxy grouting techniques or a caulking gun to apply KE-100 Grout into the tile joints.
  • Ensure all grout joints are completely filled.
  • Remove as much excess material as possible before cleaning with a grout float.
  • Do not leave excess grout on the tile surface.

Cleaning

  • Remove excess grout from the tile faces with the edge of a grout float held at a 90° angle.
  • Pull the float diagonally across the joints and tiles to avoid pulling out grout.
  • After 30–45 minutes, scrub the surface of the tiles and joints with clean water and the provided scrubber to remove excess grout.
  • Then, use a clean, thick white towel to remove any residue from the tiles.
  • Perform a final cleaning within 24 hours using a normal soap detergent solution to remove any haze from the tiles.

Shelf Life & Limitations

  • Shelf life: 1 year in factory-sealed containers stored at temperatures between 32°F(0°C) and 110°F (43°C).
  • Light colored grout may darken slightly due to direct UV exposure. Consult GRESBOND technical team for specific exterior grouting recommendations.
  • Not recommended for soft, polished marble or delicate glazed tiles.
  • Maximum stain resistance is achieved 10 days after installation. Protect from acids and strong cleaners during this period.
  • Adhesives/mastics, mortars and grouts are not replacements for waterproof membranes. Use Waterproof Membrane when required.

Maintenance

  • Clean grouts regularly with a neutral pH soap and water solution or GRESBOND Tile Cleaner TC1 cleaner.
  • Performance and durability depend on properly maintaining the installed area.
